CopperGate Low Cost Solution for Broadband Access in Multi-Dwelling Units Cable Operators

Published by Bobby at 6:33 pm under Networking

Today at the International CATV Technology Conference CopperGate Communications announced the availability of its latest reference design aimed at Chinese cable service provider requirements for high quality, low cost provisioning of triple play IP video, data and voice services over existing cable connections to apartments in MDUs. The new CG3110MLHRD Ethernet over Coax (EoC) design, implemented in a low cost, small form factor, easy to install module, creates new revenue opportunities for cable service providers without the need to make significant investments in upgrading their infrastructure. The new solution, available today, is based on the widely deployed HomePNA 3.1 (ITU G.9954) industry standard and delivers enhanced physical layer transmission for robust operation over the challenging noisy infrastructure typically found in older apartment buildings. The solution enables the simultaneous streaming of multiple bandwidth intensive services such as high-Definition (HD) and Standard Definition (SD) video, Video on Demand (VoD) and IPTV to multiple apartments through multicasting and IGMP filtering. It also features, among others, high data rates, guaranteed best of breed QoS, privacy between clients, remote configuration of clients according to their Service Level Agreements, user admission control, and remote management and diagnostics.

CopperGate will conduct a live demo of this new solution during ICTC 2007 in booth number 103-3 where CopperGate will also be hosting several Asian communication equipment vendors that are showcasing their broadband access solutions using CopperGates HomePNA 3.1 (ITU G.9954) based access chipset.
